hey hello it’s the uh 1st of April 2025 you know I’ve made the claim before that Paul does not preach uh about hell and the Lake of Fire and eternal punishment and so on but the chapter where Paul gets very close is 2 Corinthians chapter 5 where he says knowing therefore that Terror of the lord we persuade men the terror of the Lord and He talks about how we must all stand before the Judgement seat of Christ the Bema seat of Christ and receive the things done in the that we’ve done in the body whether good or bad he says therefore we persuade men so there is a terror that we don’t want to know we don’t want to know the terror of the Lord just as when you’re a child and you do wrong and you dread having to come home or come before your dad your father for the punishment that you surely deserve for what you did but in saying that I talking about a father a father who corrects his children and I believe that’s the right understanding to have when Paul talks about the terror of the Lord because whatever punishment in inverted commas the Bible speaks about it’s not the way we see it in our cultural understanding punishment seems to be in our day just for no um benefit at all to the one being punished but when God punishes when he corrects it is for the benefit of the one who has sinned so that’s that side of things but Paul wanted to persuade people not to come to that judgement seat at all and how did he do that what tools did he use the gospel that was revealed to him by Jesus Christ that you can be justified from all your sin by faith in Jesus Christ that God has forgiven you all your trespasses he has already wiped your guilty record C completely and he goes on to talk about a new creation where old things have passed away behold all things have been made new and so he encourages us and anyone who will listen to receive the reconciliation that God has accomplished through Jesus on the cross where God himself was in Christ Jesus on the cross not imputing our sins to us but he imputed our sins to Jesus his son so that word imputed it’s an accounting term so God did not put into your account in the negative side of the balance sheet he didn’t put in all the different sins that you have committed instead he put all of those negative things your sins in the account of his son not only for you but for everyone for me and everyone God imputed or put into the account of Jesus all of our sin and instead of the negative we receive the positive God made him who knew no sin his only son to be sin for us or to be our sin that we might be made in exchange his righteousness having been put into him we are now made righteous with God and so Paul is persuading people to receive the finished work of the Cross where they have been made right with God through no effort of their own but all what God has done be reconciled to God he says to the Corinthians to the Christian Believers be ye reconciled to God you see this is what I’ve been preaching especially in “the falling away” playlist go through that playlist “the falling away” playlist a Christian comes to the Lord one way or another he draws us and we believe on him and it’s wonderful we Taste of his grace we walk in peace and rest having just come to the Lord but pretty quickly the accuser gets to our head and reminds us of our sins and as we go along we continue to see in different ways and the accuser points this out to us and if we’re not careful if we’re not hearing the gospel of grace in our church uh perhaps even our personality we could be a bit negative and so we come down on ourself in agreement with the accusations that we have sinned and we forget or we don’t know that we have been Justified we have been made right with God that all of our sins past present and future are forgiven that all of our record is was and is and always will be clean before God hallelujah that we don’t have to Fear The Terror of the Lord at the Judgement seat of Christ if we receive the reconciliation that God has purchased for us by the blood of his son we don’t have to fear if we walk in that place of trust in the blood of lifting up Jesus’s sacrifice over our failures and sins but on the other hand if we go back to trying to earn the righteousness of God by trying hard and not to sin trying harder to do good and to obey God then we will know the guilt condemnation we will know continual accusation we will walk in pretending and lies and um faking it until we surrender again to the righteousness of God to the sacrifice made by Jesus this happens over and over with a Christian usually a preacher will will preach on sin with the idea to bring his guilty um church members to a place where they will repent of whatever it is they did during the week so they can come out the front and kneel before God and ask and beg for his forgiveness with tears of contrition oh God I’m sorry I masturbated
again or whatever it is and so they weep on the carpet and have a snotty nose and it’s wonderful they taste the Forgiveness of God again and they’re restored to God again because they fell away from him into sin and they were at risk of going to hell maybe their Pastor preaches that whatever but but that is not the gospel that is not what is revealed by Paul there is no need to do that what should be preached on Sunday after your people have gone through a hellish week battling the flesh is not so much the repentance from individual sins they have done but it’s preaching Jesus crucified and buried and raised up so that you and I are set free from the guilt of our sin constantly to preach the finished work of Jesus Oh makes me happy just saying this Hallelujah to preach the finished work of the cross that you are now the righteousness of God the moment you stepped out of church last Sunday you were the righteousness of God and then when you woke up on Monday and you fell into some kind of trespass and you failed you were still the righteousness of God yes and then the next day when you’re still feeling terrible about it and you’ve told God you were sorry a million times you are still the righteousness of God not because of your confession not because of all your many tears not because of feeling terrible not because you were beating yourself up so that God could see how serious you were about trying not to sin again friend put your trust in Jesus Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus risen look at that empty friend Jesus is not in there but what is in there is all of your sin all of your sin is in that tomb buried with Christ and it will stay there always your sin is always there the the sins you haven’t yet done are there in that empty tomb you are reconciled to your God you are forgiven even in the midst of doing a sin friend this is how we walk pleasing before God by only believing in what Jesus did and not listening to the devil who wants to try to get you to try hard not to sin again Hallelujah listen to the good news of the Gospel Christ Jesus took your sin into the grave and that’s where it remains all your sin yesterdays today’s and tomorrows so that you are permanently made right with God no matter what you do it’s the it’s the faith of the Son of God that carries you not your works not your obedience Turn Your Eyes Upon the cross and see that Jesus has paid for you you are right with god brother you are right with god sister the accuser is lying to you he speaks to you as if you are that old sinful person but you’re not that old man of sin according to Romans 66 has been done away with rendered inoperable the margin says you are set free now we reckon ourselves to to be alive unto God we are not that old rotten sinner we are Sons and Daughters of God we are children of the most high and we walk always inside of him don’t let the the enemy uh accuse you so that you will go back to being that old person trying not to sin and trying to be good that is his tactic but turn your eyes away from that look yourself in the mirror and remind yourself you are the righteousness of God You Are Holy and blameless before him in love because of what Jesus has done and forgive yourself forgive yourself because God has already forgiven you I love you in the Lord and I bless you today be strengthened in your inner man
