Two Cities
Yerushalayim
UPDATED: 16/6/2025
I have included some extras here for the reader/listener to digest. Religious Bias is difficult to overcome! It takes a work of the Spirit in us to break free from the traditions of man and the tares that have been sewn!
The Scriptures contain two Jerusalem’. The suffix ‘ayim means precisely two’. The quote below is from Dr Stephen Jones ministry from a teaching on Isaiah 6….
We are not told how many Seraphim the prophet saw, but there were at least three, because the im is an indefinite Hebrew plural, whereas ayim means precisely two.
The quote below is also from Jones commentary on Isaiah 30…
Isaiah 30:19, 20 says,
19 O people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you. 20 Although the Lord has given you bread of privation and water of oppression, He, your Teacher [moreh], will no longer hide Himself, but Your eyes will behold your Teacher [moreh].
“There are two Jerusalems throughout Scripture, and the prophets speak to both cities without distinguishing between them. The Hebrew word for Jerusalem is Ierushalayim, which literally means “two Jerusalems.” The Hebrew language has a plural (-im) and a dual (-ayim). Ierushalayim has the dual ending, which means precisely two. The prophets leave it to the reader to discern which city the word of God is addressing.”
“In the above case, “Jerusalem” is the New Jerusalem, or the heavenly city, as it is often called. The New Testament makes the distinction between the two cities. Overall, the earthly city is slated for destruction, while the heavenly city is promised grace and salvation. It is the same with us as individuals, for our flesh, or “old man,” has been sentenced to death, while our “spiritual man” is our real self that is being saved.”

Two Covenants
I say in the message above that God abolished the old or first covenant.
I should have used the word OBSOLETE
The New King James has…
Heb 8:13 In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
A more literal Greek interlinear shows the true meaning

In saying, New, he has made the first. And the one being old and growing old is near extinction.
8:13 1722 εν In 3588 τω the 3004 λέγειν saying, 2537 καινήν New, 3822 πεπαλαίωκε he has made [3old 3588 την 1the 4413 πρώτην 2first]. 3588–1161 το δε And the one 3822 παλαιούμενον being old 2532 και and 1095 γηράσκον growing old 1451 εγγύς is near 854 αφανισμόυ extinction.
Basically because has made a New Covenant through the Sacrifice of his Son Yeshua the First covenant is now old or obsolete. The New has replaced the old as far as God is concerned.
Definition of παλαιόω
____________________________________________________________
LSJ Gloss:παλαιόω to make old
Dodson: παλαιόω I make old, declare obsolete, pass: I grow old, become obsolete.
Strong’s:παλαιόω to make (passively, become) worn out, or declare obsolete

People may not agree with God on this and continue striving under that First(old) covenant….but it is all to NO AVAIL…as I said in the preach above.
Gal 5:16 “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.”
To accept the New Covenant is to accept God’s grace through Yeshua as your Sacrifice for all your sins…once and for all! To reject Yeshua is to consign yourself to more endless struggling to measure up to God’s Law by your own weak efforts.
That is why Jesus said
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. 26 Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Mattiyahu 11:25-30
