I came to Jesus in 1989 and was baptised in water and the Holy Spirit in the same year. I attended Pentecostal churches as well as Baptist fundamentalist type churches which all share the same fundamental beliefs about certain things differing on issues to do with the Baptism of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit.
But all those churches agree wholeheartedly on the destination of the “saved” and the destination of the “unsaved.”
In my own zeal for the Lord I used to go into the city of Perth and preach Friday nights and some Saturday’s in the main shopping malls. I was driven to preach to the people so that their blood would not be on my hands. I thought I must tell them about Jesus so that they would choose Him and escape going to Hell when they die.
One particular period at that time I discovered Mary Kathryn Baxter’s story about being taken by Jesus at night in the spirit into Hell for 40 days in a row. I listened to her story on tape all week and then went into the city and preached with that burden in my heart. I was desperate and crazy! I was scary to behold as I preached into the faces of the oncoming shoppers going about their own business in the busy city mall.
In those days I was a Government employee in the Fisheries Department of Western Australia. The picture above shows me before I became a believer in Jesus Christ.
After becoming a Christian whether at work or on days off I would preach and witness to anyone and everyone about the need to come to Jesus and be saved so that when you die you will go to Heaven instead of going to Hell.
I knew nothing at all about Heaven personally…but I wanted everyone to come there with me one day. But I thought I knew a lot about Hell! And I did.
As I mentioned above, Mary Kathryn Baxter’s revelation of Hell impacted me greatly. I preached with her burden for souls escaping the torment of Hell. But in the decades since reading and listening to her revelation I have been through much and have changed my views. In her book she says many things which confirm to me that her whole system of theology is skewed as indeed all of us do.
In her revelation she was left in Hell by Jesus so she would experience for real what it is like…at one point she says…
“If only I were, or had been, more like Jesus, I would not be here, I thought.”This clearly reveals her faulty understanding of the New Covenant. If only I were more like Jesus? Really? This thought is the thing I write about most on this site. It is a clear refusal to accept Jesus as our only righteousness, it is a refusal to believe that the Cross has done its work in the believer. To Mary, not being like Jesus sends a soul to a tormenting Hell forever. She must leave out many verses of Scripture to come to that conclusion.
I wondered if this was just a dream. Would I wake up? Was I really in hell? Had I committed some great sin against God and lost my salvation? What had happened? Did I sin against the Holy Ghost? I remembered all the Bible teaching I had ever heard.Again in her time in Hell she reveals her thinking saying she remembered “all the Bible teaching she had ever heard”…..I emphasise this because this is exactly the point!! We ALL read the Bible with built in definitions ALREADY directing our thinking on everything we read. We already have strong views on what God is, what man is, what death is, what Hell is, what heaven is, what salvation is, what Jesus is, what God is, what Church is, what Life is, what works are, what the flesh is, what the Law does, what Satan is, etc etc etc….
During this time, I knew I was never alone-Jesus was always there. But even with that knowledge, I sometimes could not feel His presence. And I was so afraid of having to go back to Hell that I was fearful to even have Jesus near me sometimes. This is exactly what is happening daily in the psyche of millions of “believers” worldwide as a result of the teaching of eternal punishment in a literal burning fire. Fear rules the hearts of Christians, NOT love. Because FEAR rules the heart, Love cannot ever be the fruit. Jesus is kept faraway because of fear that we cannot do what He commands us to do and so we will end up in Hell-fire
Then on heaven Mary says that God the Father told her….
“My angels go down and bring the children to Me when they die. I have a place where they can grow, learn and be loved. I give them whole bodies and restore whatever parts they are missing. I give them glorified bodies.”Can God be seen and touched and known? God is spirit, and is all present in every place all the time. To imagine Father in a certain place a place where children can come to Him as Mary intimates is to make an idol of God. Also Paul told us that NO ONE has yet received immortality except Jesus….and certainly no one has a glorified body yet except Jesus.
Her book like many others that seek to prove Hell is a real place with all the agonising torments is written by one who has pre-existing teachings and biases as their foundation on these subjects.
Fear is the overriding result of taking heed to such writings. I for one want nothing to do with her message, which is also the message of wider Christianity today. It is bondage! It is blasphemous and a cruel accusation against the Father.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not about where you go when you die!! The gospel –the Good News – is that God sent His son Jesus to be the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world, so that through believing into Jesus we might know Father…HERE AND NOW.
Joh 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Being saved…is not dying and going to some place where God is….as if God is not here, but up there. Being saved is having the Mediator Jesus come live in your heart so you may begin to KNOW GOD in you.
Sure, when you die, you die in Jesus. And those without Jesus, what of them?
Those without Jesus, when they die, are still as they were–LOST. Well where do they go?
This is what I was speaking about before. Each of us have definitions and teachings we go by. This is what I believe about the question–“Where do the dead unbelievers go?”
I do not believe in a place called Hell. But I do believe that the spirit’s of unbelievers have departed their bodies at death leaving their soul in the grave asleep. Their spirit not being born again wanders the spirit realm around the earth and most likely through the earth. These are what people refer to as ghosts.
Jesus verified the existence and reality of ghosts when He appeared to the disciples after His resurrection.
Luk 24:37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. (pneuma)
Luk 24:38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts?
Luk 24:39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit(pneuma) does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
Luk 24:40 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.
Luk 24:41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?”
Luk 24:42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.
Luk 24:43 And He took it and ate in their presence.
Look carefully and consider what Jesus revealed here. The disciples thought they were seeing a ghost!
Jesus did not rebuke them for thinking ghosts are real.
He acknowledged ghosts by saying “…Handle Me and see, for a spirit(pneuma) does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” Jesus was standing there in a resurrected(immortal) body/soul. His spirit now joined again as one with body and soul- Completely human.
Ghosts or spirits that have departed the body at death do not have a physical form and cannot eat and drink. Thus they float about going where they will trying to be satisfied but totally unable to be. This is the realm and existence of unbelievers.
No different really to what they were experiencing upon earth when they were still in their body.http://condemnednomore.com/2017/03/28/so-where-does-an-unbelievers-spirit-go-when-they-die/
So in effect I do believe in Heaven and Hades but not in the way the church teaches. The heavens and Hades are not separated by a long distance but by unbelief. The heavens and Gehenna are our experience here in this life according to our beliefs.
We are tormented day and night here if we have not believed into Jesus, and that goes for the Christian as well as the non Christian. We have peace and Joy according to our beliefs here in this life through accepting Jesus as our ONLY life or nature.
As long as we imagine God out there, or up there, or next to me, separated in any way from ME…then we have the torment of endlessly trying to be like God…and failing….and trying…and failing. This is Gehenna!
True peace and rest comes when we accept our total death on the cross and our total union with Christ Jesus now…a union that says I am as He is in this world…which gives us the assurance that we may have BOLDNESS IN THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT….not FEAR!!
1Jn 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
1Jn 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
1Jn 4:17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
1Jn 4:19 We love Him because He first loved us.
Jesus is ready to come into your heart and be the LINK between you and Father. He waits for your permission. He waits for you to ask Him in. Do you want to know God? Do you want to truly live? Ask Jesus to come into your heart and live inside you…it is the ONLY way to know Father–This is eternal life…..not dying and going to heaven.
C.S Lewis in his book The Great Divorce uses the symbol of a Grey Town as a picture of Hell. It is an interesting read.
Another is Dr.George Ritchie’s account of his near death experience-Return from tomorrow.
If you believe that Hell is a literal place or torment in fire and brimstone forever and ever that is your choice.
This is what God Himself says about burning people in fire.
Jer 7:30 For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight,” says the LORD. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it.
Jer 7:31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into My heart.
If God calls the practice of burning children in the fire in Gehenna an abomination and says it NEVER enters His mind do such a thing….then friend your Hell views are not Father’s views. They belong to the Hell god–Lucifer who controls the minds of millions of Spirit filled believers in Jesus with the fear of Hell.
