I came to Jesus in 1989 and was baptised in water and the Holy Spirit in the same year. I attended Pentecostal churches as well as Baptist fundamentalist type churches which all share the same fundamental beliefs about certain things differing on issues to do with the Baptism of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit.

But all those churches agree wholeheartedly on the destination of the “saved” and the destination of the “unsaved.”

In my own zeal for the Lord I used to go into the city of Perth and preach Friday nights and some Saturday’s in the main shopping malls. I was driven to preach to the people so that their blood would not be on my hands. I thought I must tell them about Jesus so that they would choose Him and escape going to Hell when they die.

One particular period at that time I discovered Mary Kathryn Baxter’s story about being taken by Jesus at night in the spirit into Hell for 40 days in a row. I listened to her story on tape all week and then went into the city and preached with that burden in my heart. I was desperate and crazy! I was scary to behold as I preached into the faces of the oncoming shoppers going about their own business in the busy city mall.

Dennis Rhodes middle row, far right.

In those days I was a Government employee in the Fisheries Department of Western Australia. The picture above shows me before I became a believer in Jesus Christ.

After becoming a Christian whether at work or on days off I would preach and witness to anyone and everyone about the need to come to Jesus and be saved so that when you die you will go to Heaven instead of going to Hell.

I knew nothing at all about Heaven personally…but I wanted everyone to come there with me one day. But I thought I knew a lot about Hell! And I did.

As I mentioned above, Mary Kathryn Baxter’s revelation of Hell impacted me greatly. I preached with her burden for souls escaping the torment of Hell. But in the decades since reading and listening to her revelation I have been through much and have changed my views. In her book she says many things which confirm to me that her whole system of theology is skewed as indeed all of us do.

In her revelation she was left in Hell by Jesus so she would experience for real what it is like…at one point she says…

If only I were, or had been, more like Jesus, I would not be here, I thought.”

This clearly reveals her faulty understanding of the New Covenant. If only I were more like Jesus? Really? This thought is the thing I write about most on this site. It is a clear refusal to accept Jesus as our only righteousness, it is a refusal to believe that the Cross has done its work in the believer. To Mary, not being like Jesus sends a soul to a tormenting Hell forever. She must leave out many verses of Scripture to come to that conclusion.

I wondered if this was just a dream. Would I wake up? Was I really in hell? Had I committed some great sin against God and lost my salvation? What had happened? Did I sin against the Holy Ghost? I remembered all the Bible teaching I had ever heard.

Again in her time in Hell she reveals her thinking saying she remembered “all the Bible teaching she had ever heard”…..I emphasise this because this is exactly the point!! We ALL read the Bible with built in definitions ALREADY directing our thinking on everything we read. We already have strong views on what God is, what man is, what death is, what Hell is, what heaven is, what salvation is, what Jesus is, what God is, what Church is, what Life is, what works are, what the flesh is, what the Law does, what Satan is, etc etc etc….

During this time, I knew I was never alone-Jesus was always there.  But even with that knowledge, I sometimes could not feel His presence.  And I was so afraid of having to go back to Hell that I was fearful to even have Jesus near me sometimes.

This is exactly what is happening daily in the psyche of millions of “believers” worldwide as a result of the teaching of eternal punishment in a literal burning fire. Fear rules the hearts of Christians, NOT love. Because FEAR rules the heart, Love cannot ever be the fruit. Jesus is kept faraway because of fear that we cannot do what He commands us to do and so we will end up in Hell-fire

Then on heaven Mary says that God the Father told her….

“My angels go down and bring the children to Me when they die.  I have a place where they can grow, learn and be loved.  I give them whole bodies and restore whatever parts they are missing.  I give them glorified bodies.”

Can God be seen and touched and known? God is spirit, and is all present in every place all the time. To imagine Father in a certain place a place where children can come to Him as Mary intimates is to make an idol of God. Also Paul told us that NO ONE has yet received immortality except Jesus….and certainly no one has a glorified body yet except Jesus.

Her book like many others that seek to prove Hell is a real place with all the agonising torments is written by one who has pre-existing teachings and biases as their foundation on these subjects.

Fear is the overriding result of taking heed to such writings. I for one want nothing to do with her message, which is also the message of wider Christianity today. It is bondage! It is blasphemous and a cruel accusation against the Father.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not about where you go when you die!! The gospel –the Good News – is that God sent His son Jesus to be the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world, so that through believing into Jesus we might know Father…HERE AND NOW.

Joh 17:3  And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent

Being saved…is not dying and going to some place where God is….as if God is not here, but up there. Being saved is having the Mediator Jesus come live in your heart so you may begin to KNOW GOD in you.

Sure, when you die, you die in Jesus. And those without Jesus, what of them?

Those without Jesus, when they die, are still as they were–LOST. Well where do they go?

This is what I was speaking about before. Each of us have definitions and teachings we go by. This is what I believe about the question–“Where do the dead unbelievers go?”

I do not believe in a place called Hell. But I do believe that the spirit’s of unbelievers have departed their bodies at death leaving their soul in the grave asleep. Their spirit not being born again wanders the spirit realm around the earth and most likely through the earth. These are what people refer to as ghosts.

Jesus verified the existence and reality of ghosts when He appeared to the disciples after His resurrection.

Luk 24:37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. (pneuma)
Luk 24:38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts?
Luk 24:39
Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit(pneuma) does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
Luk 24:40 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.
Luk 24:41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?”
Luk 24:42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.
Luk 24:43 And He took it and ate in their presence.

Look carefully and consider what Jesus revealed here. The disciples thought they were seeing a ghost!

Jesus did not rebuke them for thinking ghosts are real.

He acknowledged ghosts by saying “…Handle Me and see, for a spirit(pneuma) does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” Jesus was standing there in a resurrected(immortal) body/soul. His spirit now joined again as one with body and soul- Completely human.

Ghosts or spirits that have departed the body at death do not have a physical form and cannot eat and drink.  Thus they float about going where they will trying to be satisfied but totally unable to be. This is the realm and existence of unbelievers.

No different really to what they were experiencing upon earth when they were still in their body.

So in effect I do believe in Heaven and Hades but not in the way the church teaches. The heavens and Hades are not separated by a long distance but by unbelief. The heavens and Gehenna are our experience here in this life according to our beliefs.

We are tormented day and night here if we have not believed into Jesus, and that goes for the Christian as well as the non Christian. We have peace and Joy according to our beliefs here in this life through accepting Jesus as our ONLY life or nature.

As long as we imagine God out there, or up there, or next to me, separated in any way from ME…then we have the torment of endlessly trying to be like God…and failing….and trying…and failing. This is Gehenna!

True peace and rest comes when we accept our total death on the cross and our total union with Christ Jesus now…a union that says I am as He is in this world…which gives us the assurance that we may have BOLDNESS IN THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT….not FEAR!!

1Jn 4:15  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
1Jn 4:16  And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
1Jn 4:17  Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
1Jn 4:19  We love Him because He first loved us.

Jesus is ready to come into your heart and be the LINK between you and Father. He waits for your permission. He waits for you to ask Him in. Do you want to know God? Do you want to truly live? Ask Jesus to come into your heart and live inside you…it is the ONLY way to know Father–This is eternal life…..not dying and going to heaven.

C.S Lewis in his book The Great Divorce uses the symbol of a Grey Town as a picture of Hell. It is an interesting read.

Another is Dr.George Ritchie’s account of his near death experience-Return from tomorrow.

If you believe that Hell is a literal place or torment in fire and brimstone forever and ever that is your choice.

This is what God Himself says about burning people in fire.

Jer 7:30  For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight,” says the LORD. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it.
Jer 7:31  And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into My heart.

If God calls the practice of burning children in the fire in Gehenna an abomination and says it NEVER enters His mind do such a thing….then friend your Hell views are not Father’s views. They belong to the Hell god–Lucifer who controls the minds of millions of Spirit filled believers in Jesus with the fear of Hell.

For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Now, right now is the acceptable time to be saved from sin. Right now. And the effects of being saved from your sins can be yours RIGHT NOW.

It is not a matter of dying and going to heaven…but a Salvation to be had right now. And the opposite is also true. Have no fear about dying and going to a lost eternity in Hell for Hell is also RIGHT NOW.

For if you do NOT have Jesus you are in torment right now. For your heart yearns to know God but your mind turns you away from Him. And without Jesus you are dead in trespasses and sins. Without Jesus you have no hope RIGHT NOW….let alone after you depart. Without Jesus you are already condemned and in Hell.

But with Jesus you are already lifted up into heavenly places in Him….RIGHT NOW! With Jesus in you you have become a child of God and right now are His, though you walk through this wilderness by faith calling those things that be not as if they are. Heaven is in the believers heart.

Today is the acceptable time to enter heaven through belief in Jesus Christ. And as soon as you do, heaven enters you and you enter heaven. Hell departs from your heart, though it will still try to attack you from the outside. You will have changed identities and citizenship. You will have become a new creation in Christ Jesus and a member of the kingdom of God. You will be translated out of the kingdom of darkness and conveyed into the kingdom of the Son of His love–JESUS. Al this takes place for real in your heart for that is where Heaven is in this current age.

When you have repented and are calling Jesus your Lord and Savior the sounds of heaven fill your spirit with joy and gladness. Your soul is lifted up out of the bondage of sin…and your body begins to experience the touch of heaven as your spirit overflows with His power and love.

Thus while here in the wilderness we sing the refrain David wrote….

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.[literally:for a length of days]

The issue is not when you die you will go to Heaven or Hell. No–the issue is you are in Hell NOW!! Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved NOW from your sins…for if you do not believe that He is Lord and Christ you shall die in your sins. In other words you are in the torment of Hell already if you are still controlled by your sins.

But there is freedom and life for you today–while it still called today. While you are still alive in your body it is today , it is NOW….and Now is the acceptable time for you to call upon the Lord Jesus and receive the reconciliation. Receive the forgiveness of all your sins TODAY!

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”Hebrews 3:15

Today I declare to you that TODAY you can be saved, restored to God and forgiven. Today, RIGHT NOW you can leave Hell behind and enter into LIFE in Jesus Christ.

This is not a long post–just a comment really–a statement maybe. I hear a lot of talk about what it will be like in heaven. The thinking is that heaven is a place where we shall all go to one day. Yet have we considered that all of heaven is coming to earth?

When Jesus spoke of His Kingdom He said, “…the Kingdom of heaven…” He taught his disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

The saying kingdom of heaven also means kingdom from heaven. The kingdom is within us…and we are the manifestors of that invisible kingdom. The kingdom is spiritual…yet we are physical. God’s presence and kingdom are internal and we carry His presence and manifest His kingdom.

We are seated right now in the heavens, in Christ, in God. Yet we are walking this dusty earth at the same time just as Jesus did and still does in us.

Do you think God is going to take us out of this earth to a faraway heaven? I believe Scripture tells us that He is going to awaken us to the true reality of who we are right here on this earth.

We are born again to walk as full complete humans. What does that look like?

It looks like God with us-Emmanuel. It loks like “If you have seen me you have seen the Father.” It looks like God in human form…yes I am speaking about you Christian.

Heaven and Earth are inseparable…They are ONE. Earth is made to image spirit. You were made the image of the invisible God.

Don’t you realise that you cannot see God for He is a spirit. But we can see one another right? Where is God? In His people who are His dwelling place and temple.

You talk about dying and going to heaven when heaven is in you and you are in heaven already. But you do not believe it because all around you see sinking sand and the effects of sin. But God wants us to learn to see as He sees. Therefore from now on we regard no one according to the flesh..2Cor 5:16..

Natural mind sees only defeat. Natural mind thinks God will scrap this planet that He loves so much. God will do no such thing but shall cause the full manifestation of His glory to cover the earth instead…it does cover the earth but we have not seen it. He will open our eyes to see His already ever present glory…to behold Him in His creatures and see Him in each other.

At the beginning all we see is us here and imagine God up there. But that is not a true picture of reality. That separated mind set is what empowers religion. But the truth sets us free. We ARE as He is –1 John 4:17 NOW!!!

We are ONE in Him now. We see this dimly, but it is true. Everything visible says the opposite is true….but we overcome the accuser of the brethren by faith.

Heaven is here right now if we have the eyes to see it. God shall grant us eyes to see.

It is in seeing Jesus in all things now on this earth that we leave the torment of Gehenna behind us and enter into heavenly reality and bliss.

As long as we see this earth as a place to escape from we see out of serpent eyes.

One of the biggest tares in the modern church , for the last 1500 years is the wrong translation of a few key words in Hebrew and Greek. I can already feel the oppression on my head from offended brothers and sisters as they pray “for” me! Never mind that,  as a brother in Jesus Christ I will continue to share the good news in the hope that someone may hear.

It was St Augustine who reasoned that if we have been given eternal life then those who do not believe in Jesus must receive eternal death.

Is it as simple as that dualistic approach?

Believe it or not the Bible says very little about eternal life…and for that matter eternal death.

The hope of the saints living in  Old Covenant times was to be raised up or resurrected in the end times so as to enjoy the Life of the Age to come.

The hope of those who believed in Jesus was and is the same….Our hope is not to die and go to a faraway place called heaven…The hope clearly revealed by the Jesus and His Apostles is to be resurrected to immortality reigning with Him in the Age to come.

When Augustine presented his reasonings that we must have eternal life and so Hell must also of necessity be forever, it was adopted by the church council of the day and later stamped as official church dogma by the Emperor Justinian. What better way to control the masses than through the threat of eternal torture and punishment in a literal burning fire?

The Scriptures simply do not teach such a thing. You think they do because there has been 1500 years of compounded teaching along these lines and anyone who dares say differently is thought of as a heretic. The simple meaning of a heretic is one who causes division so in a sense I fit that bill because I am presenting the majority of people with something that will bring down the whole stack of cards.

Hell is all about controlling you and the masses of those like you. Hell is all pervasive and all over everything a Christian does. Without Hell what would a Christian do?

There will be a resurrection of all those chosen and faithful saints who shall receive immortality for reigning with Jesus Christ upon this earth. They shall also be able to go into the heavens with this new immortal body. These shall be called priests of God and they shall teach and preach upon the earth to the nations during the 1000 year reign of Jesus on this earth.

Those who died before that resurrection but who were not counted worthy to attain to that resurrection shall stay sleeping in the grave until the second resurrection at the end of the Age. We are told that that age lasts for a 1000 years. At the end of it, then ALL who sleep in the graves shall hear the voice of the son of man and shall be raised up to stand before Him. At that time they shall see Him who they pierced and shall believe upon Him and confess Him as their Lord and Saviour.

All their sins are forgiven and washed in the blood sacrifice of Jesus. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess Jesus as their Lord. Oh happy day!!

Then in the Ages to come they shall learn as we have been learning….they shall be put under authority and taught by the Holy Spirit….even as we have been. This is the Lake of Fire that burns age to age. The fire is the Holy Spirit as he deals with each one individually even as we have been immersed into His fire during our time. God chastens those whom He loves and He loves ALL PEOPLE. He chastens us all so that we may be sharers in His holiness and come to inherit as sons do.

The hope of the Gospel is that all shall be saved and all shall believe in Jesus until all His enemies are made His footstool…then God shall be all in all.

How big is your God? Will your God save all or will He only save a few?

Your view of all this has been influenced greatly by saints of old…even 1500 years ago.

Saint Augustine did not know Greek or Hebrew!!

Although Augustine had a good mind yet he never fully mastered the the Greek language, and he later had reason to regret this fact.

Contrary to the custom in Rome of his day, the classical schooling that Augustine received in colonial North Africa was conducted principally in Latin rather than in Greek. Augustine later wrote in his Confessions that his first Greek teacher was a brutal man who constantly beat his students. As a result, Augustine rebelled by vowing never to learn Greek.

“The after-effect of his having had in his childhood a teacher of Greek who was cruel to his students far outlasted the seventy-six years that Augustine spent on this earth. Because Augustine was such an influence on the thought and scholarship of the Church in the West during the Middle Ages, his dislike of Greek had lasting consequences. His low motivation towards the Greek language and his recourse to Greek texts less frequently than would otherwise have been the case unduly influenced subsequent Christian authors of the West.source

Augustine wrongly thought that the Hebrew word Olam meant forever and the Greek word Aionian the same. Yet he himself did not know Hebrew or Greek so had to rely upon men like Jerome the author of the Latin Vulgate version adopted by the Roman Catholic Church. Yet a close look at their usage in Scripture plainly reveals that these words do not mean forever but  an unknown length of TIME. Time and eternity are two different things altogether. Eternity is not a very long time. Eternity is nothing to do with time. Yet all these ideas have been hidden by Augustine and Jerome.

You may not have even heard of Augustine yet his thinking and doctrinal understanding has influenced you and all Christians since 500AD. A full 1000 years after Augustine’s views of eternal punishment became official church dogma the King James Version team of translators got together. They were a product of the same Augustinian thought which majored on Latin understanding and not Hebrew or even the Greek version of the Old Testament. Is it any wonder that these men translated time words such as Olam and Aionios and aionian to mean forever and eternal?

As a result of the wrong translation of these time words to mean forever the Bible does not declare the Good News as fully as it should. Thankfully though, God is beginning to bind the Tares into bundles to burn them at the end of the Age. One of those tares is the eternal punishment dogma which has ruled over the minds of dear Christians for centuries and driven them to strive in the flesh in all that they do. This has worked to stunt fruit bearing for unless we abide in Jesus we cannot bring forth fruit. Fear of Hell keeps the Church from being able to rest in Jesus for long.

All worry about where you are at with God and His purposes vanishes away when you realise and accept and embrace this spiritual reality and FACT.

John 14:20  At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

There is no greater revelation. There is no greater teaching.

This is not meant to be a word for when you arrive in Heaven up there someday.

This is your state of being NOW in Jesus.

It does not matter which way you turn this diamond it gleams with the perfection of God.

Jesus says: I am in my father….and you are in me….and I am in you.

That means that everything I am He is!!

And everything He is I am!!

It means what it always meant to Jesus. That if you have seen me you have seen the Father. If you have seen me you have seen Jesus. Oh but I thought Jesus was in heaven you say? Yes He is and where do you suppose heaven is my beloved? Jesus told you where heaven is many times. I am in my Father in you!!

All this separation we like to keep intact is what keep s the church in darkness. When the church comes to truly grasp their own reality then Churchianity will cease to exist. We will have come to the next age in our experience-Tabernacles. Pentecost is over and God has moved on. He does that so that we will follow Him outside the camp in our thinking at least, if not physically.

If all you want to see is a man about 6 feet tall sitting on a throne in Jerusalem….then be prepared to wait in a queue for over a thousand years to spend just a few minutes with him. We do not know Jesus after the flesh any longer but according to the spirit.

And by the spirit he told us plainly that he was going to the Father…..and that He is in the Father and you are in Him and He is in you. Jesus did not go anywhere far away. The Father is spirit and cannot be seen or touched or known in any way EXCEPT through Jesus the Man—who became a life giving spirit so that He now dwells in your spirit AS YOU. Thus to know Father is to accept that you and He are ONE.

You will not get to know Father by dieing and going to a faraway place called Heaven! He is in you. He is YOU!!…Yet you are still there too….but the you you are is a new you called Christ the new man.

When you walk into a place, even if you are feeling down that day…you are heaven’s glory walking in there. There is no need to try to be like heaven. You are heaven. There is no need to try to be like Jesus for in the trying you deny the truth that you and Jesus are one spirit revealed as you.

So we can rest and really be ourselves trusting Father in all situations. If you come to accept this great truth and reality you make yourself an enemy of most Christians who insist, through blindness, on seeing themselves as separate and responsible to do something to be like Jesus.

That is called self righteousness–it stinks.
