If you have ever been to Israel and done the tour to the Temple Mount you would know that the Eastern Gate to the site was bricked in by the Ottoman empire and a cemetery was placed in front of the gate.
It is said that the reason they blocked the Gate was to stop the Jewish Messiah from entering the Temple Mount on his triumphal entry to Jerusalem.
But since the Ottoman’s believed that Jesus of Nazareth is the TRUE Messiah they blocked the Gate to stop another Jewish Messiah pretending to be the true from entering in. Source
The Gate is also known as the Golden Gate or Gate of Mercy
Spiritually however blocking a gate is like the gagging of the mouth or like blocking up a well or blocking a roadway with a boulder.
Isaiah 62 is an intercessory chapter for Yerushaliyim or Jerusalem. The im on the end gives it a plural meaning. In other words there are two Jerusalem’s.
The Earthly Jerusalem is in bondage with her children and speaks of all those trying to be justified by keeping the Law. The Heavenly Jerusalem is synonymous with the Grace of God received by faith in Jesus the Messiah.
The Earthly Jerusalem refuses to honour Jesus of Nazareth(born in Bethlehem) and as Jesus said ‘you will not see Me until you say (from the heart) “Blessed is He who who comes in the name of the LORD.”‘
Those who refuse the free gift of righteousness through Messiah Jesus shall not inherit the promise given to Abraham. Only those who believe into Jesus are sons of promise. This is the reason why the way into God’s symbolic temple is still barred.
The spirit of religion hates GRACE. The spirit of religion seeks to find a way into God WITHOUT coming through Jesus Christ….who declared Himself to be THE WAY INTO GOD and the truth and the Life.
Yet though Jesus declared these things they still try. But GOD HIMSELF has barred them from entering in. The East Gate remains shut because it is a type and shadow of God stopping those who would “climb up some other way” other than Jesus.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
John 10:1
A closed Door cannot be opened when God has shut it. The Temple in natural Jerusalem has no glory from God – it is Ichabod- the glory has departed the Temple and shall not return there.
The true glory rests upon the true Temple which is His body The Church of Jesus Christ….made up of all those who have believed in Yeshua ha meshiac down through the years–Jews and non Jews.
The way into the Holiest has been opened in the spirit ONLY to those who would come via the authorised Way – Jesus of Nazareth.
The Gate being blocked up is saying we should not be trying to get into that Temple. Instead we go outside the city to the temple whose builder and maker is God. God is pleased to dwell in earthen vessels and make his home in us.
Yet even we can have an Eastern Gate which is blocked up.
3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Psalm 32:3
Through my groaning all the day long
David closed up the gate of his mouth until he confessed his sin to the Lord. Then his mouth was opened in declarations of praise and thankfulness. While his mouth was shut his soul was suffering.
The mouth is a Gate of the Lord through which rivers flow. James tells us that within us — is the potential to speak either bitter or sweet rivers.
When we vocally acknowledge the joy of sins forgiven and a heart washed with pure water the river of life flows full strength from our spirit centre to our soul.
In His presence is joy and life and peace – all resident within us – His dwelling place. We can open the Gate and speak rock breaking words of life that brings rest and peace to our soul.
Our spirit is akin to the Temple with it’s holy of holies. Our soul can enter into the presence of God tangibly as we speak the truth to ourself –Truth that is rooted in the New Covenant of Jesus blood.
Our Eastern Gate is open…the Golden Gate of Mercy is clear…the Lord is seen in His holy temple…as his people draw near with true hearts washed in the blood of the Lamb -Jesus.
We close that Gate within us by going back under self effort to please God. When we leave grace behind and go back to the works of the Law we condemn ourselves as falling short all the time…the result is we speak bitter words and pollute our souls and others.
Sweet water flows as we acknowledge what Jesus has done for us and in us by His grace alone. Those waters flow forth from His throne within us and push all the rubble and debris and stones OUT OF THE WAY…thus making a way for our soul to be restored, revived and replenished.
Don’t let the enemy rob you another day! Begin to speak in line with sins forgiven and righteousness received. Speak words of truth over your self and to yourself.
Keep the Golden Gate to the city of God open!
62 For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace,
Isa 62:1
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,
Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
This in NOT aimed at that natural city over there…but God’s chosen city -the bride of Christ…the TRUE Jerusalem and city of Peace. For there is NO WAY to have peace with God OTHER THAN through accepting and receiving Yehsua of Nazareth—son of David–the Messiah.
Jesus is the Lamb of God whom God sacrificed for all people so that He has redeemed all to Himself by that One sacrifice for all. There is NO OTHER sacrifice for sins — Only Jesus.
Isaiah says by the Holy Spirit that Jerusalem’s salvation shall burn like a Lamp. The Salvation he speaks of is Jesus Christ!

The prophet’s pray and preach Jesus until THAT JESUS(Salvation)BURNS LIKE A LAMP in His people.
Individually Jesus will burn like a lamp in you too – as you speak Jesus over yourself and into your soul. Your lamp goes dim when you are not speaking the river of words/life that is Jesus.
