Comfort one another lest you be like others who have NO HOPE. When any person dies the Word of God tells us exactly what happens to them.
Concordant Trans..Ecc 12:5b “…When man goes to his eonian(kjv “long”) home, And those lamenting turn about in the street;”vs 7..And the soil/dust returns to the earth just as it was, And the spirit, it returns to the One, Elohim, Who gave it.”
We learn that when a person dies they go to their ‘long home’ for a time…not eternity or eternal. The physical part of us returns to the dust of the earth from which it came…and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
That is the case for EVERYONE.
In the books of Kings it says things like this….
“So David rested with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David.”
What was buried? David was buried. His body was laid to rest in the grave…and returned to dust. What of his soul?
Scripture tells us his soul is also resting(Jesus said “Lazarus sleeps”) and shall awaken at the voice of Jesus when all those in the graves shall hear his voice as Lazarus did and come forth.
But it was not just righteous kings who rested in the grave….
Wicked king Jeroboam also rests in the grave..
“The period that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years. So he rested with his fathers.”
Peter said by the Spirit about David and Jesus
Acts 2:27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades,(the Grave where they rest)
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption(the body decomposing)
28 You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’ (Raised Jesus soul up by the Spirit into immortality)Acts 2:29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Look what Peter says about David….hundreds and hundreds of years after David died…He says by the Spirit of truth that “David is both dead and buried and his tomb is with us to this day.” This was after Pentecost and after Jesus rose from the dead and yet David is still said to be dead and buried.
What part of David is “dead and buried”? His body and soul.
Where is David’s spirit? It returned to God who gave it.
What about wicked King Jeroboam who is said to also be “resting with his fathers” in the grave? A man who had “done more evil than all who were before you, for you have gone and made for yourself other gods and molded images to provoke Me to anger,..: 1 Ki 14:9
He like every one else who has died are still dead and buried..
RESTING IN THE GRAVE!! NOT BEING TORMENTED ANYWHERE.
Their soul sleeps as Jesus said in John 11:11-14…or is dead…Contrary to what Catholicism teaches, the soul is NOT IMMORTAL…only Jesus has an immortal soul. 1 Ti 6:16
So where is David’s spirit..his inner man? Where is wicked king Jeroboam’s spirit? Where is the spirit of my unbelieving Freemason dad who died of cancer at age 55 years in 1980? Where is Hitler’s spirit? Where is G.H.Walker Bush’s spirit?
It/they returned to God who gave it.
A person’s spirit is them just as their soul is them and their body is them. Body and soul die….spirit returns to God.
They are awaiting, as all people are-
THE RESURRECTION OF ALL THE DEAD…those who sleep in the graves.
Acts 2:31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
Jesus soul was not left in Hades(the grave where he was resting for a short time). Nor did his body rot. But he was raised up.
So we have the assurance that we also shall be raised up PHYSICALLY…and our soul also will be reunited with our spirit that has already gone on before “us” into God.
Not all shall be raised at the same time though.
But all shall be raised!!
Your lost loved ones shall be raised up again…their spirit is with/in God and shall be sent back into them to stand before God.
Rest assured that the resurrection of judgement that most will face is not as has been forced down our throats in the churches. But is nothing other than God’s chastening fire which he administers to every son and daughter–Read Hebrews 12- that we might share in His holiness and be at peace with in.
It will all work out…for all.
