The prophet Elijah’s declaration and question to the congregation during the reign of Ahab and Jezebel is still very relevant for us today. I hear this prophetic call deeply and strongly in my gut! I am moved with His passion for His bride today!
1Ki 18:21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
How very apt and pertinent this story is for us to read today. We are in it! The precious bride of Christ–the universal church of God has been seduced away from Jesus to worship a false image of Jesus and supported by a false gospel.
I am totally unable to bring back the children of Israel to God. I have no ability to preach or teach or persuade you to change your mind. Yet I am am called and set aside by the Father just as Elijah was in his day.
Like Elijah I am prone to pride and depression…I often mistakenly think I alone am serving the Lord even as Elijah did. Yet I am part of an Elijah company of prophets that have been hidden in the wilderness by God.
That does not make me great…it is simply my calling inside Jesus. What word has been given to me to bring forth in it’s season?
Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.
Mal 4:6 And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.
and also I am a voice crying in the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord—Take out the stones from before my people.
Isa 62:10 Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples!
What stones?
The stone pillars of the Baals. The false images portraying Jesus and Father in a false way. The stones that block and check the people of God as they follow after Jesus their beloved friend.
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours. He was a man of great weakness! I identify with him. He was called to walk a lonely path. He knew God. He was given eyes to see the stones blocking the path of God’s people. He could see where they had been diverted and how this had happened. He was a prophet.
People do not like prophets generally. They tend to be strange ones. I chuckle as I write this. They are single minded and often over the top passionate and zealous for the Lord…..then can flip and be almost worldly and normal. They will come up to you and command you to hit them in the face….they will say things to make you want to do such a thing. They are moved to be offensive and to attack the sacred pillars and the Stones that block the way. Are you such a one? I am.
The Lord possessed me in the way
Pro 8:22 “The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old.
Pro 8:23 I have been established from everlasting, From the beginning, before there was ever an earth.
This is a true word spoken into my being and yours. The Lord possessed you in the beginning of His way! You are caught up together with Jesus inside of the Father. You have a passion for the church of Jesus and you WILL SEE HER SET FREE!! Even as I write this morning in the predawn hours, I sense that this word is going forth like a trumpet call to His prophets. Those who have been kept for this hour…His arrows in His quiver are ready to be shot forth into the hearts and minds of His people.
And so Elijah was kept by God, 3 and half years by the Brook Cherith first of all and then at Zarephath in the house of the widow.
Cherith is the place of cutting. God has cut us off and separated us from His body to prepare us as a living word which he will send at the appointed time. God fed Elijah with dainties from the King’s table. Elijah was well acquainted with what Ahab and Jezebel ate in their high up castle above the people of God. He ate of their food…speaking of their doctrines. The teachings of Jezebel and Ahab. He was fed by the darkest of birds, the Raven….which to me alludes again to the darkness of the doctrines and lies that are believed by Jezebels’s camp.
The more Elijah discerned those teachings the more they gave him indigestion! They are stones that are in the way and must , simply MUST be removed just like swallowing a stone will choke you to death. Get it out of the way!!!! REMOVE THE STONES!! Or God’s people will die and not be able to enter the gates.
The gates are open only to those who believe in the finished work of Jesus. The stones keep God’s precious people from entering into that finished work in their minds. In their hearts they have ALREADY ENTERED…but the stones in their minds have made Christ of no effect…they have FALLEN FROM GRACE!!
Notice that the TWO OPINIONS which brought Elijah out of the wilderness have to do with who WE THINK God is.

These two opinions are rife today. Law versus Grace….Hell versus no Hell or limited Hell…..Self effort versus God working….two trees…two opinions.
Obviously the people of Israel fully BELIEVED that the God which they worshipped under Ahab and Jezebel’s rule was the true God. They had been seduced. They were deceived about who God is. How could that happen!? The Serpent is more cunning and subtle than any other created being….that’s how!
2Co 11:2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
2Co 11:3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2Co 11:4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!
Here Paul is moving in the same Spirit as Elijah moved in…and that I move in. Godly jealousy for the bride of Christ moved Paul’s heart. The Bride has been seduced by another posing as her Groom. Only that groom is a pretender and will dominate and abuse her for his own pleasure. He will not make tender love to her…but instead will tie her up and rape her!!
The other day I heard the pop band Police singing their old tune “Do, do, do dah dah dah”. As is God’s way with me, he spoke to me through this song. Now I see it fitting here.

The words of a little toddler–do,do,do, dah,dah, dah reflect the innocence and chasteness of the bride….of Eve. She is made to receive the Word. She is made to believe. She intrinsically trusts her Groom to be as God to her….loving her, nourishing her, caring for her needs. She is simply not able to believe at that tender time, that her groom is not who he says he is. She believes in him, she trusts in him. She is not able to see that his aim is to dominate her and bring her into submission to his will. She cannot see that she is being groomed by a predator posing as her lover. She becomes his WILLING SLAVE serving him, worshipping him, performing sexual acts for him! It all becomes very perverted and twisted out away from God’s original intentions for her.
How did she get into this place of bondage even though she believes in Jesus? Paul tells us how in the quote above. And so do those lyrics! The another gospel, about another Jesus, ties you up and rapes you….A system of words, of logic in the mind , gets lodged in the deep mind and controls all that we think about God our husband.
It is this same JEALOUSY and passion to see the Bride set free from her bondage to the false husband that is about to burst in upon the enemy and expose him for who he is. This is what moved Elijah out of the hiding place at that time. SHE MUST be set free from the Baals! Those posing as Jesus in the minds of God’s chosen people. The prophets of Baal must also be dealt with –bringing them into the ONLY death there is–The one death of Jesus Christ.

Here we see the two opinions out in the open.
Either you are a CHASTE VIRGIN inside of Jesus or you are CORRUPT.
The another gospel tells you that you are corrupt and need to allow Jesus to make you clean through obeying him and surrendering to him all your miserable life here on earth. This is a humungous stone placed in the way so you cannot enter the Gates of the city–ie–FATHER’S HEART!!
The other opinion…just saying…is that You really are a chaste virgin inside Jesus. Yes, you…all of you…your personality, your perceived failings and weaknesses. Your silliness and proneness to laziness or over eating or whatever!! YOU ARE CHASTE AND HOLY inside Jesus PERMANENTLY AND WHOLLY–SPIRIT SOUL AND BODY–JUST LIKE JESUS!!
How long will you falter between tow opinions?
God had to take me out of the churches and get me clean away from the teachings of death in order for me to cease eating from Jezebel’s table. Unclean birds carrying unclean food—food that ties you up and rapes you…food that demands your obedience….that seeks to subjugate you totally, conquering your will and making you subservient.
That food is BONDAGE…and yet it is what is eaten week after week by the bride of Jesus. But a rescue mission is in progress. The stolen brides of Jesus shall be rescued from their slave-masters and pimps.
1Ki 18:1 And it came to pass after many days that the word of the LORD came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.”
Elijah had first been well acquainted with Jezebel’s food as typified by the ravens coming with meat from her table. Then he ate grace filled food provided entirely by Father through let it be to me according to your word type of faith.
In Sidon at Zarephath, Elijah ate food from a widow’s faith. A widow in need of a husband. A dear woman with her son…but with no husband to provide for her needs. Elijah filled that role by his presence and the abiding faith of Christ in him. She was provided with clean wholesome food and so was the prophet.
This is what God has been doing with us. He has taught us to see the enemies food–ie, teachings….and to recognise it’s effect and insidious ways of corrupting those who eat it. A little leaven leavens the whole lump! Then God has also been teaching us the True. Feeding us with clean food born out of the faith that is in Christ Jesus inside us. Teaching us to live ONLY by that faith. (Gal 2:20b)
Thus God prepares a sword to go forth and sever the ropes that have tied up the bride of Christ and held her in the dungeon of death and corruption.
Her time of RELEASE IS AT HAND!!
SET THE CAPTIVES FREE!!
OPEN THE PRISON DOORS!!
REJOICE REJOICE !!
