In a dream last night I learned an important key regarding our born again heart. Yesterday I shot a little rambling video and when I watched it back after I posted it, I laughed and laughed at myself. I saw a different man than the man who used to try to serve God. That other man is dead.
At the end of that video I said “our hearts have been purified by faith in Jesus” when making a point about God filling us full and having no sin nature.
So in this little dream just before waking this morning my wife was speaking with someone and then I heard her self curse herself and start crying. I asked what this was all about. The issue was to do with having a certain possession versus giving up that desire to have it. She was crying and speaking bad about herself because she still so desperately wanted to “have that thing.”
She made the statement in the dream whilst weeping—“I thought that had been taken out of my heart!!”
Then I awoke and pondered what she had said in the dream.
And what occurred to me is that things we desire do not need to leave our heart or be taken out. The truth that we live in is that WE ARE CRUCIFIED TO ALL THOSE THINGS. We don’t need to try to stop coveting to have the thing. And we can be honest with our Father, He already knows our desires and what we want.
What our problem is is that we are still imagining ourselves to be the ones who have to try to be like Jesus. We think we must try to surrender all to Jesus. We think we must give Jesus our heart, which is full of coveting and what we assume are wrong desires for a Christian, in the hope that He will cleanse it from all these things, so that we are more like Him.
In effect we are still that OLD MAN begging God to clean up the old heart….to take out of the old heart all the things that we imagine God does not like.
BUT GOD DOES NOT PURIFY THE OLD HEART!! GOD HAS GIVEN US A NEW HEART INSTEAD.
Therefore trying to get things out of our heart is the wrong seeing…..Instead God has given us a new heart–JESUS’S HEART!
I have an old car–a 1994 Toyota Previa/Tarago. It gets me from a A to B…but it needs new suspension as I use it to get firewood from the forest, going down tracks that are more suited to four wheel drive vehicles. The bush joints are gone, the shockies are stuffed, it squeeks and thumps and rattles even on bitumin highways!! Now I could fix it up, it would cost a fair bit….but I could fix my old car. Or I could get a new car!
I could fix my old car or I could get a new car!!!
And that is exactly what God HAS already done in us. He is not going to fix your old heart…no way!! He scrapped that one –you are crucified with Christ….you died with Christ….you were buried with Christ….
Instead God was sooo excited to give you a brand new heart…..not one made in Japan either! But a New Heart –the very heart of GOD HIMSELF!! God gave you Jesus. Jesus came to live in your heart, to be one with your heart, to be your very heart.
All these things that the accuser tells us must be wrong to have in our heart….is just smoke and mirrors. Your heart is Jesus heart if Jesus dwells in you. Aint nothing wrong with Jesus heart is there? It’s your heart now, own it, own Jesus!
Declare that Jesus dwells in my heart by faith–and His heart is the ONLY heart I am. I have been crucified to the world and the world has been crucified to me.
In Ezekiel we are told that God will take out of Israel(believers in Jesus) the stoney heart and replace it with a heart of flesh.
Eze 11:17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.” ‘
Eze 11:18 And they will go there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there.
Eze 11:19 Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh,
Eze 11:20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
Eze 11:21 But as for those whose hearts follow the desire for their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord GOD.
When we agree with God personally that He has DONE WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD DO in us, then all things settle in and find their place.
Agree with your Father now: Father You have put a new spirit in me. Father You have taken the stoney heart out of my flesh. Father you have given me a heart of flesh in my flesh.
Look at how the Greek old testament translates this verse…
(Eze 11:19) And I will give to them another heart, and a new spirit I will put in them; and I will pull out the heart stone from their flesh, and I will give to them a heart of flesh; (apostolic bible polyglot)
Isn’t this exactly what Paul said?
2Co 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
So we see how God purified our hearts by faith. (Acts 15:9) God applied the Cross to us. What does that mean? It means what Ezekiel and Paul just said–He took out the stoney heart, gave us ANOTHER HEART…Jesus’ heart…the heart of flesh..in our flesh.
We don’t try to stop wanting something….The Accuser points at us and says we are coveting after a thing and not after God. Our response is Hey! You are pointing at a heart that has no sin in it. I was and am crucified with Christ…the heart I am and have is the very heart of Jesus, full of Grace and truth.
I receive all that Jesus heart is…and He has taken all that I am into His heart inside me.All my desires ARE HIS DESIRES now that His heart is my heart. I am free in Him and He loves me.
Ezekiel says God will give us ANOTHER HEART. Hallelujah!! He has done it. This is something which we can quietly agree with. God you have given me Another heart. You have given me Jesus Himself to be one with my heart.
The Stone that He pulls out of the heart is the so called “sin nature.”
That was what He crucified and buried in and with Christ. The stoney heart…the sin nature was and is crucified with Him. That is also a fact to be believed and declared.
Father I have no sin nature in my heart…it was taken out through being crucified in Christ. There is no sin nature in my heart….ONLY JESUS dwells in my heart now. My heart is safe….my heart is not the enemy….my heart is the very heart of Jesus and therefore I am very pleasing to you Father. All my desires are yours too…and I can come boldly to you in my heart and share all these things with You, for you love me.
Bottom line is dear believer….YOU have a safe heart…one that is not accusing you. Your desires are all good. Christ now lives in your heart, therefore the things you desire are His desires. He wants to you to have confidence and boldness because you have His heart as one with you.
Come boldly to your Papa and ask Him for those desires, knowing that your heart is true, is washed, is purified and pruned. Jesus lives in your heart by faith.
