For all those brethren who claim that we must keep the Law of God and obey Jesus let me ask you if you have obeyed Jesus commandment to “sell all you have and give to the poor”?
Luke 18:22 NKJV
So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”Luke 14:33 NKJV
So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
If every Christian obeyed Jesus commands on the printed page they would all be living without any possessions or house or car, they would not have anything!
But of course there is more to this than meets the eye isn’t there?
Forsaking all and selling all is metaphorical.
God has a NEW life for us to put on. But unless we forsake the old life and leave it behind we cannot enter into the new.
Forsaking all and selling all that you have and indeed all that you are. What do you have that you must forsake??? Read what Paul forsook to get some idea…
Philippians 3:6 NKJV
concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.Philippians 3:7 NKJV
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.Philippians 3:8 NKJV
Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain ChristPhilippians 3:9 NKJV
and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
All the things that made up your self worth need to be forsaken. In fact that whole old life WAS crucified with Christ. It is FINISHED, KAPUT!
UNLESS we accept the fact by faith that we died and it is no longer I that lives but Christ that lives in me…then we shall be trying to live before God as that old life…..which is DUNG before God.
Sell it ALL…Forsake that old life and put on the NEW life by faith. Put on Jesus as your only life, your only identity, your only I.
