It is the Accusers job to accuse us- It is up to us to refuse to agree with him. The most ferocious battle you will ever encounter I believe, is against the “Accuser of the brethren”.
“…for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. Rev 12
Sometimes I think that other Christians do not have the baggage in their past that I have. Maybe the sins they committed in their past were things so small as to be nothing compared to mine. Yet all sin is a breaking of God’s commandments whether small or big it is all sin.
But here is the good news!
Christ Jesus has forgiven us all trespasses! All!
When we first get converted to Jesus we are filled with the knowledge of this forgiveness. It is something that fills us with joy. We cannot contain the joy of having the heavy weight of guilt lifted off our lives.
We are so grateful that He loves us despite what we had done before. Whether we have been habitual sinners in some gross way…or a moralist sinning by judging others as less than ourselves….Jesus Christ took upon Himself our sin nature including all the deeds we have done and died under the penalty of OUR sin.
He who knew no sin Himself-became our sin for us-and for the Father- so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. God is able to take what Jesus did for us and apply the fruit of it to us. We are counted as RIGHTEOUS before God through Jesus death and resurrection. God has removed the sin/debt problem we had…we are now reconciled to the Father.
But…on the other side Satan- man’s adversary does not want to recognise our deliverance from sin. Sin was what held us captive to him. Now sin is broken and we are free to be God’s children. The Adversary still attempts to recover what he lost by constantly accusing us to ourselves. He does not want us believing we are righteous by faith in Jesus.
The Accuser of the brethren points at all the things we have done and still do and says GUILTY!! He reminds us daily of how pathetic we are..how weak we are…how unworthy we are…all in order to get us thinking bad of ourselves. Of course the truth is that WE ARE pathetic, weak and unworthy in our natural state. But God has chosen us, and has come to dwell in us, even though we are in that condition.
All the handwriting of the Law – the written precepts and judgements which we have each broken– these things that were hanging over our head like a heavy hammer waiting to fall upon us—have been WIPED OUT by the ERASER of Jesus Blood.
Col 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with Him when He pardoned us all our transgressions.
Col 2:14 He wiped out the handwritten record of debts with the decrees against us, which was hostile to us. He took it away by nailing it to the cross. (Tree of life version)
We have a new beginning–a new start–new mercies—forgiveness that covers all eternity. God has cancelled our debt note through the payment made with Jesus’ own blood. We are acquitted! Not guilty! Free!
So when the Accuser comes each morning to your door(mind)…agree with him that you are weak, yes…you are pathetic…yes, you are unworthy..yes…BUT!!!
BUT!!!
Though I am weak yet I am strong! For it is Christ Who is my strength.
Though I am pathetic yet I am bold as a lion for Christ Jesus is the Lion in me.
Though I be unworthy it is Jesus Christ Who is one with me on the inside…He makes me worthy to stand before the Father.
His blood has cleansed you completely. You are a new creature in Him..and no accusation will change those facts. Satan has lost you forever….YOU BELONG TO GOD…and what is His He will bring through fire and water and storm and pain and wilderness and shame… and hardships…He will bring you through all these things and you will have gained in Christ likeness through no works of your own.
