Many in the church system think that God wants everyone to be a preacher or teacher or pastor and go to church regularly, not missing a meeting etc etc. Churchianity burns people out until they finally start to get real about their faith. I am not an advocate of any of that, though I once was!
Remember Moses? He was about 40…raised in a King’s palace in Egypt, knowledgeable in all the wisdom of that culture. He knew he was called by God to deliver the children of Israel from bondage and he was going to do it.
He tried to deliver them by murdering an Egyptian who was beating an Israelite slave. He then fled into the desert where he lived for 40 years as a shepherd and simple husband and dad to two children.
Moses the Deliverer…Moses the Learned one…the son of Pharaoh…living out in the sticks, doing ordinary mundane things daily,…. for 40 years!
My point is that all the preparations to become a “somebody” all amount to nothing!!
By the time God revealed Himself to Moses 4o years later, he could hardly talk coherently, was a shattered man who had lost all his old zeal to be used by God.
That was when he was ready.
While Bible colleges pump out graduates with Degrees and Diplomas, God is hiding people in normal every day places preparing them His way.
Those who appear to be first shall find that they are really last…unless they submit to the humbling process of God.
God must knock religion out of all of us before we can be of any use to His purpose.
I remember a prophetic word spoken over my life in 1995 by a prophet who did not know me.
He said in that word….”you have wanted to do your thing and I(God) have wanted you to do My thing, and we have kinda clashed…but the day will come when you will do My thing and it will be good.”
I laugh at the wisdom of God revealed in that word now. The thing I fought so hard to do FOR God over the years was all Church based stuff. But God has removed me from the church and hidden me in His quiver…He has made me a husband and a father…and an employee….all that normal stuff…stuff that I had thought was second fiddle to being a pastor or a preacher or missionary.
God had said, “I have wanted you to do My thing” Kinda like Jesus saying, “I must be about My Father’s business”
We presumptuously think we know what our Father’s will is…it’s obvious!! Be a good Christian, read my Bible, pray a lot, preach to everyone, give to missions, attend endless meetings, tithe, lift my hands up, sit down, stand up, sing, louder, louder, shout, dance, sit down, smile, greet one another, turn to the one on your left and say he’s talking to you, shout amen,…and we put up with all this morass of religious rubbish …why? Because we are busy doing our Father’s business of course.
VOMIT!!!!!
Jesus said “In the volume of the book it is written of me…I have come to do your will O God.”
What is His will for you? Have you given up your will to Him yet?
Until you do, you will not be doing His will…but your own.
When you are fed up with the merri-go-round of religion and cry out to God to bring you into reality and truth, you will be shocked at what He will do.
Saul of Tarsus, the zealous Pharisee, is another classic example.
All his training in the word of God and his pious law keeping all amounted to a pile of DUNG.
He thought that because he had excelled in religion more than all his contemporaries , God must have saved and called him to preach. ‘What a good example of a Christian man he would be’ , said God…..NO NO NO NO!!
Even though Paul went straight out and preached Christ, stirring up trouble for the other disciples…..God’s plan for Paul involved the same as was dished out to Moses. Put him out of the way…that was God’s plan. This man who loved to be in the limelight….put him in the wilderness until he forgets himself and his great abilities.
Modern religion says use all your gifts and talents for the Lord…Oh really?
Satan suggested the same thing to Jesus when he had finished fasting 40 days.
And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” Luke 4
Why not use your gifting Jesus? Go on!
But Jesus had lain down His own will and His own ego or self.
So many in Churchianity using their gifts and talents for the Lord….it all amounts to DUNG.
Php 3:7 But what things were gain to me,these I have counted loss for Christ.
Php 3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
Man wants to feel like he is being used by God…and he assumes it is only in religious things that God uses us…but does not consider that not many are called to be true pastors, prophets, teachers, evangelists and apostles. Most of the Christians in the early church were just mums, dads, servants, slaves, working in various jobs and businesses just like today.
Being faithful to God where He has planted you is the main thing He is after. Is that as a wife? A husband? A business owner? An employee? A millionaire? A poor person? God is with you in that role and he is delighted in you. He says well done good and faithful servant. Keep a clear conscience, rely only on His grace, ask for more of it daily….the race is not to the swift nor to the strong…but to the one who hands everything over to God in complete rest and trust. He is in you to will and to do of His good pleasure.
I drove a fork lift today, loading up a semi trailer. That was God’s will for me today.
What did you do? That was God’s will for you. (you know I am not talking about lawbreaking and sin)
God rested from all his labor…and he desires that we do the same.
Joh 15:4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
Joh 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
